ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION PROGRAM IN SAINT VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES

COLLEGE FOR INTERNATIONAL CO-OPERATION AND DEVELOPMENT

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:

CICD – College for International Co-operation and Development is a residential school in the UK offering 7-, 10-, and 12-month programs through a combination of theoretical and practical international studies. Volunteers are sent on placements through the school's partner organizations—Richmond Vale Academy and Humana People to People—to Africa, India, or Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Since 1998, CICD has trained more than 1,500 volunteers, development instructors, and climate activists from all age groups, nationalities, religions, and backgrounds. The school also prides itself on having a large global community and strong following around the world.

Most members of the Planetrise Association also began their journeys at CICD. We have maintained a close partnership with the organization since 2004 and regularly support the placement of volunteers in African projects.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

The official name of the program is Climate Activist – a 7-month international volunteer program — during this program the participants gain a deeper understanding of the challenges of climate change while actively contributing to the development of sustainable solutions and supporting local communities.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE:

3-month of preparation in England: Participants receive both theoretical and practical training at CICD in England, focusing on the challenges and solutions related to climate change. They engage in research, investigations, and team-building activities to prepare for their volunteer work, while also participating in the daily operations and community life of the organization.

3-month of Fieldwork in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines: In cooperation with the Richmond Vale Academy, participants take part in sustainable development projects such as tree planting, the construction of biogas plants, the development of community gardens, the installation of renewable energy solutions, and environmental education. Specific tasks are tailored to the local needs of the given period.

1-month of Experience Sharing: At the end of the program, participants return to CICD to summarize and share their experiences. Through presentations, reports, and creative content, they inspire future teams to take climate-conscious action.
