Children's Day at the Children's Department of the Kisvárda Hospital

31/05/2017

The 3rd grade class of the Szent László Catholic Primary School in Kisvárda prepared an extraordinary surprise for the young patients of the Upper-Szabolcs Hospital's Children's Department. They gathered their old storybooks, unused colouring books, and comic books, and donated them to aid the healing process in celebration of Children's Day.

The weeks-long collection was coordinated by teachers Csilla Ilona Krakkné Varga and Krisztina Simonné Jónás. Seeing the enthusiasm, the owners of the Kódex Bookstore, the Reschner couple, also joined the "action," carefully putting together significant book packages for all age groups, thus becoming the main sponsors of the program.

Our association also joined in, and our members donated several book packages as well. The gifts were presented on May 30, 2017. The team was warmly welcomed with cookies and drinks by Mr. Henrik Hegyi, the Director-General of the hospital, and from the Children's Department by Lead Nurse Nárcisz Szántóné Németh and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sándor Molnár, who immediately created a cheerful atmosphere with their kindness. We thank them for their hospitality! The children from Szent László School presented the gifts with great love, and the young patients of the Children's Department eagerly opened the packages, their faces lighting up with wide smiles and sparkling eyes, before diving into the beautiful world of storybooks with joyful excitement.

Through this event, we were once again reminded of how much better it is to give than to receive. Thank you for allowing us to be part of such a beautiful initiative!

(The children and the donation were transported jointly by the Szent László Primary School, the Kódex Bookstore, and our Association.)
