Crocodile Petting at St. László Catholic Primary School

21/06/2023

There was crocodile petting at St. László Catholic Primary School! Of course, that's an exaggeration, but it's not far from the truth that we brought a real crocodile leather briefcase to the event. The event was part of a program where we visited the schoolchildren of the "Szent László" in Kisvárda earlier this week, on the first day of the summer camp. The briefcase is about 50-60 years old, from the time when crocodiles were unfortunately slaughtered for their skin without consequences. We used the briefcase to talk to the children about wildlife protection.

We also brought Tarzan and the gorillas with us. After playing the theme song from the movie Tarzan, we showed the "Gorillas" episode from our Uganda series to the very knowledgeable and curious kids.

We also showed them a carving of Noah's Ark from Malawi and had a long discussion about the dangers currently threatening our world. The children were attentive and interested, and it was a joy to talk with them.

Thank you to the school's leadership for the invitation!
