Dávid from Zambia – I. Blog Post

31/01/2023

Greetings to everyone and a big high-five to you all!

I'm Dávid Hegedűs, a volunteer with the Földkelte Association. Although we haven't had the chance to meet in person yet, as I've mostly been working behind the scenes on the association's social media platforms, now I have the opportunity to introduce myself!

Currently, I am in Zambia, Southern Africa, where together with two other team members, we are working on development projects in collaboration with a local community and an international organization. We are focusing on areas suffering from extreme poverty, where people face daily challenges such as access to clean water and food.

Before coming to Zambia, I spent 2.5 years in England at the CICD - College for International Co-operation and Development. Initially, I volunteered there, and later joined their 12-month program called the "Poverty Alleviation Activist in Africa" program, which I am now completing with fieldwork here in Zambia.

While we are engaged in development activities in various parts of Zambia, I'm also an amateur blogger, constantly documenting my experiences, observations, and thoughts here. Sometimes I write in a more serious tone, other times with humor, but I always strive to give meaning, value, and depth to what I share—this is exactly why I'm "here" now!

In the coming months (for the next 6 and a half months, until my project is completed), I will keep you updated with reports on what we, together with my teammates and DAPP Zambia, are up to in this beautiful country.

Stay tuned for the first official post, but until then, here's a photo of me and my partner Kitti, who is an essential part of our trio.
