Dávid from Zambia – XL. Blog Post

05/08/2023

Once again, England, once again, CICD! A few days ago, after a tough 40-hour journey, we safely returned to our base, our school at CICD. In Portugal, we not only explored the coastline and went on trips, but we also shared our experiences from the past 6 months in Zambia with the public.

I have a lot of thoughts about Portugal and plenty of material to share, which I plan to do over the next few weeks. For now, though, I need a huge rest – both I and the team are completely exhausted.

....

This morning, we held a presentation at our school for the new students, volunteers, and teams that will be heading to Africa in January 2024. This was our last presentation about Zambia – at least, together, as a team.

These presentations are important not just to pass on our practical and theoretical knowledge, but also to allow the next batch of development trainers to build upon the path we've laid out, continuing and furthering the process of sustainable development in Zambia and many other South African countries.

...

Soon, each of us will continue our lives on different paths. These are difficult days. Emotionally, we are still in Africa. Confusion, joy, longing, homesickness, and frustration – these are the emotions that describe our everyday lives. But tonight, we officially close the program!

This is the last day we are considered DI students at the school. From tomorrow morning, we will be "veterans"... at least on paper.

We'll wrap up the past few years – filled with challenges, experiences, lessons, and unforgettable moments – with a dinner, a celebration, and a well-deserved "graduation ceremony."

IMPORTANT!

If everything goes well and I'm not too tired, I plan to do a "spontaneous" Facebook Live later today, between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM Hungarian time!

The live session will be based on answering questions from the past months: there will be talks about Africa, CICD, my travels, feelings, thoughts, challenges... a lot of things.

There's no fixed structure or set goal for the talk, so feel free to ask anything. The chat will be completely open, and it will be hosted on my personal Facebook page (the one I'm writing on now).

The Live will be public (I will share the link in this group too), so anyone can join and comment.

Looking forward to seeing you all with a big hug and a high-five!

THE END!

...and with this, this was the last post in the "Dávid from Zambia" blog series.

Once again, a huge heartfelt thank you to everyone who read and followed me from the first sentence to the last.

If you'd like to continue following my work or travels, please join my group.

Big high-five to all of you!
