Dementia Program with the Hungarian Catholic Charities
In 2019, the INDA (Interprofessional Dementia Foundation Program) project was launched by the Hungarian Catholic Charities. Our association is involved in the implementation of the two-year research series of the program.
The aim of the project is to raise public awareness about dementia through a well-structured communication campaign, as well as to implement professional development adaptations that enable high-quality care for elderly people living with dementia. Furthermore, the project aims to explore the situation of caregiving families in a differentiated manner according to individual communities, and to develop methods that can assist in caregiving in the future.
The project is not only focused on providing information and support to family members but also aims to create an interprofessional dementia program. Training, research, and an information campaign are needed to sensitize society, eliminate taboos and exclusion surrounding dementia, and gain broad political support by the end of the project. Because behind every person with dementia is a valuable life that must be ensured to end with dignity, human rights, and support for caregivers, as well as societal recognition for the professionals working with them.
"One must seek the person where they are, and serve them where they live." (Pope John Paul II)
