Useful Training Opportunities at the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust

04/04/2017

The Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust is a UK-based organisation dedicated to saving animals from extinction, founded by Gerald Durrell in 1963. Its headquarters are located at Jersey Zoo (Channel Islands), which was also established by Durrell. The organisation's mission is to save rare and endangered species from disappearing forever.

Training

The Durrell Academy offers a variety of training courses aimed at both nature enthusiasts and professionals working in conservation and wildlife protection. Their flagship course is the 12-week Durrell Endangered Species Management Graduate Certificate (DESMAN) programme, specifically designed for professionals working in or planning to work in species conservation.

To participate, a confident command of the English language and support from your employer are required. During this intensive course, participants will develop their leadership, communication, administrative, and species conservation-related professional skills. Upon completion of the programme, each participant receives an officially recognised graduate certificate awarded by the University of Kent. The application deadline for the next DESMAN course is 15 October 2017.
