International Day of Peace: Join the Jane Goodall Institute!
Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE, founder of the Jane Goodall Institute, has been a UN Messenger of Peace since 2002. Every year on September 21st, individuals and organizations worldwide celebrate the United Nations International Day of Peace, spreading hope and turning it into action to build peaceful global communities.
This year, join the Jane Goodall Institute and Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots - Hungary international organization to celebrate the #PeaceDay by working towards the elimination of racism and the building of peace.
The International Day of Peace focuses on building a world that draws strength from diversity, respect, and connections to each other and nature.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres states: "Racism continues to poison institutions, social structures, and everyday life in every society. It remains one of the driving forces of persistent inequalities. And it continues to deny people their fundamental human rights. It destabilizes societies, undermines democracies, erodes the legitimacy of governments, and… the link between racism and gender inequality is unmistakable."
Dr. Goodall, JGI, and Roots & Shoots chapters embody this theme by working to address the harms of racial injustice and climate injustice, focusing on global habitat restoration and protection, as well as environmental justice to build a sustainable and equitable future for all.
