Jane Goodall Institute: "Pass It Back, Bro!" Campaign
The "Pass It Back, Bro!" used mobile phone collection campaign was launched in 2018, through the collaboration of the Jane Goodall Institute, KÖVET Association, Védegylet Association, and the For Africa Foundation.
Over the years, 5 tons of mobile phones have been collected at designated drop-off points. But why is this campaign so important? Who does it help? What are the environmental, social, and human rights backgrounds to the campaign?
One of the metals found in mobile phones, tantalum (coltan), is mined in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This is where Dieudonné Cirhigiri Zirirana, the leader of the Congolese civil organization Véto, is coming from, invited by the Planetrise Association. During the event, you'll have the opportunity to learn about the mobile phone campaign, the issues in Congo, and Dieudonné's work through a short film created by Planetrise.
Come and learn about the situation in Congo and discover how YOU can make a difference. The event's patron is France Mutombo, the Honorary Consul of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
