The Leader of the Planetrise Association’s Congo Project Has Passed Away at the Age of 65

13/05/2023

Dieudonnè Cirhigiri Zirirana, the leader of the Planetrise Association's Congo project, has passed away at the age of 65. Born in 1957 in Nyangezi, Eastern Congo, he was a philosopher and theologian by training. He served as the head of the VETO Nonprofit Organization. Throughout his life, Dieudonnè dedicated himself to improving the living conditions of orphans and those in need. He spent nearly two decades working on child and youth protection, education, rehabilitation of the war-affected population in South Kivu, restoration of agriculture, and improving quality of life.

Since 2008, our association has had a close collaboration with the VETO organization, and we shared a strong, friendly bond with Dieudonnè. This year, we had planned to launch a new project in Nyangezi, South Kivu, with the support of Hungary Helps Agency, to expand the ongoing activities in the region. Unfortunately, Dieudonnè will not live to see this… His passing is a great loss not only to our association but to all those whose lives have been made better through his tireless work.

Rest in peace, Dieudonnè, we will continue the work!
