Planetrise Cultural and Environmental Association in Tokyo
Planetrise in Tokyo: Dr. Péter Juhász Gergő, the head of the "Sustainable Africa" research group at the Institute of African Studies, Óbuda University, and a representative of the Planetrise Association, was invited to the SEIKEI University. Péter gave a lecture on the current African projects that our association is implementing in collaboration with Hungary Helps Agency Nonprofit Zrt.
These projects include the following:
-
Ethiopian Medical Missions, with the Hungarian Embassy in Ethiopia as our strategic partner.
-
Food Security Program in Congo, where alongside educational activities, we also focus on agriculture in collaboration with the VÉTO organization in East Congo.
-
The Jane Goodall Institute's Ugandan Program, which supports the construction of school boats and small boat docks, the renovation of a primary school building, and swimming lessons for the local population, all with the support of Hungary Helps - Hungary's Aid Program. The Japanese students showed great interest and actively participated in the discussion following the lecture.
The lecture was also attended by a Hungarian audience, including Juhász Hajnalka, a 10th-grade student from the Bessenyei György High School and Dormitory in Kisvárda (by the wayz she is the daughter of Péter and his wife Szilvia). Hajnalka has been volunteering regularly with the Association for two years, and she will be eligible to request membership as a full member this November, once she turns 18.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to our host, Dr. Kei Hakata, a professor and researcher at SEIKEI University, for the invitation and assistance in organizing the lecture!
Professor Hakata conducted a research project in Eastern Hungary in 2022, where our association supported his work.
Péter and his team will continue their journey to Kyoto and Osaka, and in a few days, they will also visit Seoul to further explore Eastern cultures.
