Visit to the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust
In April 2017, two members of our Association, Péter Gergő Juhász and Csaba Szeremley, visited the island of Jersey. The main purpose of the trip was to establish personal contact with the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust.
The Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust is a UK-based organisation dedicated to saving animals from extinction, founded by Gerald Durrell in 1963. Its headquarters are located at Jersey Zoo (Channel Islands), which was also established by Durrell. The organisation's mission is to rescue rare and endangered species from extinction.
Our delegation was welcomed by Mark Brayshaw, Director of Animal Collection. After presenting the work of our Association, Mark also gave a detailed overview of their organisation's activities.
We identified several potential areas for future cooperation. In the future, Planetrise Assocation intends to join breeding programmes for endangered species and various habitat protection projects. In connection with this, we also plan to send Hungarian participants to take part in the training programmes of the Durrell Conservation Academy.
More information about the Foundation can be found under the "Our Projects" section.
