Harvest Time: The Planetrise Wine is on the way
Last week, members of our Association took part in the grape harvest. While we know that Kisvárda isn't exactly a historical wine region, we nevertheless decided last year to restore a vineyard owned by one of our members and produce our very own Planetrise wine. After months of careful cultivation, we felt the time was finally right last week to harvest the grapes.
Every member tried to take part in the work – though, of course, only those who weren't busy with projects in Africa could attend: "Right, Ilona Asztalos?"
We managed to collect a few hundred litres of must, which isn't bad at all for a first attempt. We're hopeful the wine itself won't turn out too disastrously either! To help ensure a decent sugar content, we plan to enrich it with honey – kindly provided by another member of ours who just so happens to be a beekeeper.
After the successful harvest, we wound down by picking up litter along our organisation's "Asszonyhegy Educational Trail", located right next to the vineyard. Our racka sheep also played a helpful role in keeping things tidy.
