The program, developed jointly by VETO, the Planetrise Cultural Association and the Pure Life Foundation, aims to improve the living conditions of families living in the Equator Province of Congo, with a strong emphasis on preserving traditional values and environmental resources, as equatorial wildlife is unique in the world and extremely vulnerable. We are therefore implementing the development projects in cooperation with the local population in such a way that they also remain motivated to preserve their natural resources, while at the same time being able to provide their families with improved living conditions.
Planetrise and Pure Life are providing professional advice and donations to VETO, a local NGO tasked with buying agricultural products, principally corn, produced by Equator's farmers and then transporting them by boat across the Congo River to Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo with a population of more than 12 million. This program is making a major contribution to bringing agricultural products produced by farmers in Equator to the market and to giving people living in the capital access to domestically produced food. A portion of the proceeds from the trade is then used to support further social and environmental projects in the province of Equator.
You can support our work, too! With a US$20 donation, you will be covering the operating costs of a family farm in Equator Province for three months, in addition to providing a full month of staple goods to a family of four in Kinshasa otherwise unable to feed themselves. At the same time, all donations help to preserve the natural resources of the Congo Basin and to improve the education and welfare of those who live there.
